Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering (Paperback)
“Unit Operations of Chemical Engineering, 7th edition” continues its lengthy, successful tradition of being one of McGraw-Hill’s oldest texts in the “Chemical Engineering Series”. Since 1956, this text has been the most comprehensive of the introductory, undergraduate, chemical engineering titles available. Separate chapters are devoted to each of the principle unit operations, grouped into four sections: fluid mechanics, heat transfer, mass transfer and equilibrium stages, and operations involving particulate solids. Now in its seventh edition, the text still contains its balanced treatment of theory and engineering practice, with many practical, illustrative examples included. Almost 30 per cent of the problems have been revised or are new, some of which cover modern topics such as food processing and biotechnology. Other unique topics of this text include diafiltration, adsorption and membrane operations.

The ChE book to keep
If you only keep one ChE book from school this should be it. Along with Perry’s, this is a must have for any ChE in downstream or chemical operations.

A Chemical Engineering Classic
Some prior reviewers are mistaken about this book being an annotation of Perry or of little value. The “unit operations” are the framework of chemical engineering.

Excellent book
Warren McCabe has written a unit operations book that is most adequately utilized for fluid mechanics.

This book is inadequte
I feel that this book is inadequte for students and professionals alike. It does not explain well how systems act in real life situations, like most academia books

This is a ChemE Must
I went to cornell where Prof. Harriot teaches. This book is a must for reference. There are points where it is a little difficult but it is really a overall good book.

BSL (Bird, Stewart, Lightfoot) is far superior to this one.
I’m a student at the University of Florida, where this text has been recquired for Unit Operations classes (fluids and separations).
