You aren’t going to save anything by doing this yourself. I know…They’ve offered you the replacement part but wont cover the labour to switch it out!
Problem is, you don’t have the equipment to ensure the integrity of the installation of the replacement part. They will do some tests to make sure the heat exchanger is ‘air-tight”. This is one of those cases where it is not worth saving money!
If you do this yourself and you have leaks, no matter how careful you are, you are placing yourself and your family at risk.
Let a qualified installer do this for you. Yes, it will cost you some labour, but at least you can sleep nights knowing it has been installed properly and tested.
